You know it is not about us. Jesus is the reason we are here. The Bible was not written about us, it was written for us. We are not the star of the story Jesus is!

How easy is it to be a Christian? Even when Jesus was here on earth people didn’t recognize him.

John 1: 11-12. He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God.

Being a Christian is not easy, it is tough. Salvation is a free gift, it is available to everyone, everywhere so some times we seem to take it for granted. All have sinned and fall short of the the glory of God. But Jesus came that everyone who believes in Him and opens their hearts door and invites Him in, He will come in and live with them.

Is being a Christian enough for you? Is saying yes I am saved so satisfying to you that it is all you need to do? It is so easy to be in the net of love, and feel Jesus saying, “I am here to catch you when you fall”, and trust that is all you need. But is that all you need? Do you feel like Jesus is only a safety net? Someone you only talk to when you are under stress, or you are afraid something bad is about to happen?

We go through lives day to day and accept the things around us. We fade in to the woodwork. We need to stand out as leaders and take the rains. I encourage you to stand out as Men. Know why you are here and know what God wants you to do. How can we do that if we do not have close communion with God?

I pray that you are a Christian, that you believe and trust in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. But do you have a friend in Jesus? How many friends do you have? I want you for a moment, to think of a close friend you have today. Now think of your closest friend you have had in the past you have not contacted in a long time. How much do you know about what is going on in the life of your closest friend? How much do you know about your good friends from the past?

I have a couple of friends from high school, they are people I consider close friends. Though these guys are close to me in my heart and I know the next time I see them they will welcome me with open arms. Although I don’t know what they are doing today, I know many things in their lives so I can pray for them. I don’t know the troubles they have daily but I know they love The Lord. I have a relationship with them.

These relationships did not come from meeting them in the hall passing them by in school. The relationships were built through hours of long conversations on the hoods of our cars, in our rooms, on long walks together, and in hours of prayer together. We have common interests, and a compassion for common goals. We knew each others hearts. We bonded in time and grew the relationships so strong they will never end.

They say it takes about 40 hours to build a friendship with someone, where you really consider them as a friend. However It takes up to three years to really build a life long lasting relationship.

If you pray and spend only 5 minutes a day in the word and in prayer, it would take about 480 days to spend 40 hours with Jesus. How much time do you spend?

Men’s ministries are a way to get to know other men, And to share things God has taught you, and mostly to hear what God has taught other men. It is easy to forget why we are here. Encourage and be encouraged, you are a role model for those around you. Weather you are a good or a bad role model is up to you.

I have been encouraged by and blessed by Men’s Ministries in only a few events but enough to know without a doubt, that this is an important part of personal growth for men everywhere.

I believe that personal growth is the key to successful Christians. If you do not have a committed relationship to Jesus, are not growing, if you are not praying daily, you are not growing, if you are not studying the bible or reading scriptures daily, you are not growing. If you do not have quiet time with Our Lord, you are not growing personally.

How about you? Do you have a friend in Jesus?
